Our story

Nearly two decades in the making.

KinStead Companion was born in the space between loving someone deeply and being able to reach them.

Lauren became a caregiver at 22. Over the years, one problem kept returning: the tools meant to help aging loved ones were too complicated for them, too limited for caregivers, or too clinical to feel at home.

After a family health crisis made the need urgent, she stopped searching and built the first working prototype herself—on a real device, with a real family, for the people she loves.

For real families

Made to feel like it belongs in the home.

KinStead Companion is designed around dignity, clarity, and the routines families already have—not around asking an aging loved one to learn another device.

  • Designed for large type and high contrast
  • Works with familiar family photos and calendars
  • Built with privacy, visibility, and consent in mind
  • Planned for hardware many families already own

“This is no longer just a personal solution. There are other families in exactly my situation—and the right tool does not exist for them either.”
